 Pre-Race Info and Rider Instructions

8:30 am – 9:45 am  – On-Site Registration -at the band-shell

9:45 am – Rider Meeting – at the band-shell

9:55 am – Line up to Race – Down on the beach – Just North of the water treatment plant

10:00 am – Race Start – Racers head north along the lakeshore for 9+ miles to a check-point at the very north end of Herrington Beach State Park. Every racer must check in at the turn around point. After checking in with the race official at the check-point, racers turn back around and head back south, all the way back to the Start/Finish Line. Returning racers must yeild to oncoming racers and stay right when neccesary. This will mean that south-bound racers will have to ride in the softer sand on the way back to the finish (where 2 way race traffic exists). The first 3 men and women will be awarded prize money. No other results will be recorded.

Important information for during the race!

These are public Beaches- Be courteous and yeild to everyone that you pass.

Stay along the lakeshore – do not trespass by going above the high water line onto private property

Pack everything out that you pack in – do not litter

Stay to the right – yield to oncoming race traffic – even if that means stopping in tight spots or riding in soft inland sand

This is a rain or shine event – you will get wet even if it’s a perfectly sunny day – there are several creek crossings that are all ridable

Carry everything that you will need – be self sufficient – tools – food – water – clothing

Special note if you don’t have a fat-bike (yet) – Milwaukee area Fat-Bike Rentals – click here and tell Hans that you’re racing the Moustache Race for a special rate!

Man, I wish I were back in Wisconsin for this one!
Although, the snowbiking i’ll be doing at that time here in AK will be nothing to complain about. Good luck all and keep the mustaches powerful.

Hey it grows back Tom! We’re trying to raise awareness for the movember charity event that takes place world-wide during November to help find a cure for prostate cancer. One out of every four men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer……that’s why we have the mustache rule. I’m not a big rule guy, so lets find a way to make this work for everybody……or not.

We’ve altered the beard rule. You can keep your beard for a $5 donation to http://us.movember.com/. So mustached riders with beards will pay $25 at registration. Everyone else will pay $20.

I hope that everyone’s mustaches are coming along nicely. Mine looks horrible and is unlikely to improve by next Sunday. Anything for a preferred starting place. It is going to be a great time!
