Interbike 2012 – More Fat from Vegas

Here’s the rest of what I collected, while working the show today.

Surly Rubber Tree

I revisited the production sample of the new Krampus and took some detailed shots for y’all. The Krampus demo fleet is rocking a 3rd generation prototype yolk, so all of the photos that you’ve seen before this are not exactly what you’ll see, when the real production frames are delivered later this year. These photos are of an actual production spec frame that the Surlinauts had stashed in their booth and let me photograph. The production yolk appears above and below – bottom and top. They also fed me cornuts.

The seat stay cluster will have increased tire clearance and the stays meet the top tube further towards the front of the bike to increase strength. I was told to expect the usual fatties fit fine tire clearance, that we all know and love.

A shot of the down tube gusset…and someone’s foot.

also new from Surly – Wool long sleeve jersey and Ultra Smurfy Wool Hoodie!

Our new amigo from New York, Craig (Lefty) Smith – aka Mendon Cycle Smith,
shares his new (Half Gallon) Seat Post Flask (King Cage’s Mud Flask)

There’s another more reasonably sized mud flask that would make any fat biker smile.

Will we see a Beargrease on the top of the podium at The Inditarod, Arrowhead 135 or White Mountain 100 Races?

Fatback has owned those podiums in years past… It should be an interesting fat-bike race season!

A little bit of Gnome-Fest @ Interbike

Burro Bags – Half Frame Bag

Heated grips! These are really cool. Look for an upcoming review!

Mystery Fat

I was skulking around the china booths and spied this camo Troy Bikes Fatty. Coming to  big box mart near you?

I don’t know about Inditarod, Arrowhead 135, etc…. but I have a good feeling that the Beargrease will win more than a few of the shorter races this year

I’m pretty sure with that horse it is suppose to be Troy bikes… but whoever did it used one of those stupid fonts where it is hard to tell the capitol letters. The thing that looks like the line for an F is just part of the horses mane. This input from me really doesn’t matter though, because really… who cares : )

I think you’re right, Doug – Troy, like a trojan horse.

Those heated grips could be revolutionary for sub-zero riding and make 50 below rides up here in AK much more enjoyable!

I will be setting my 29″er aside in 2013 and racing my fatbike exclusively, so you will be seeing a fatbike up-front in a lot more races next season. That said, I don’t think I will be on a Beargrease… More likely it will be on one of those cool new hydroformed alloy 907s.

But it will be light, and it will be at the front of the pack…
