NEW! Revelate Designs ♦ Powerline Hoodie

Powerline hoodie sm

Our amigo Eric from Revelate Designs has just introduced their first foray into cycling apparel. This is something that Eric has developed and tested for his own personal use. He likes his Powerline Hoodie, so much, he partnered with a clothing manufacturer and is offering them for sale in Revelate’s online store.

Eric shared a bit about the development of his new hoodie.

Living in Alaska means you deal with the cold and the weather a lot. In the summer of 2008 I needed a good cozy fleece layer for a trek out in the Aleutian Islands. I had more time than money on my hands so cut apart some old clothing to make a pattern, added a hood then zig-zag stitch and hacked together the fleece hoodie I’ve basically lived in for the next 6 years. It was crude but endured the test of time and then some. Constructed out of Polartec Windpro fleece, it was warm, comfortable enough to live in, did not absorb much water and took the bite out of the wind. It became my second skin for both summer and winter forays for the years to come.

The Powerline Hoodie is Eric’s go-to layer for cold weather fatbike rides.

Hardface Polartec® Windpro fleece cuts the edge off the wind generated at moderate fatbike speeds, and the velour interior is soft enough to wear all day next to skin. The 4 way jersey stretch Windpro fleece sports excellent breathability due to it’s tight knit, non-laminated composition. You will simply not want to take this hoodie off!

Features include a 1/3 length zipper and a spacious stretch woven chest pocket. The sleeves are cut long and include thumb loops for a little extra hand warmth and grip insulation.  The hood is designed to be semi-ninja, as in a chin height zip and slightly loose fitting to cover over hats & head layers, yet still being trim enough to fit under a helmet. Waist length is slightly longer for tucking into pants with ample coverage on the backside. Flatlocked seams throughout.

Eric’s favorite layering systems go something like this:

Temps 15 and above: Wool T shirt, Hoodie, Wind jacket (Patagonia Houdini or similar) for warming up or on long fast descents

Temps 0 – 15: Wool T shirt, Long sleeve thin wool shirt, Hoodie, Wind jacket for warming up or on long fast descents

Sizing runs big, lean towards a size down if on the fence.

Men’s approx. size / height:

SM 5’6″ – 5’9″

MD 5′-9″ – 6’1″

LG 6′-1″ – 6’3″

XL 6′-3 – 6′-6″
