Bike On Water Race

March 8th, 2015 (day after the Fat Bike Birkie and just North of Cable)

11:00am

Bayfield, WI

The Bike On Water Race is an approx. 12 mile loop course from the frozen shores of Bayfield across Lake Superior to Madeline Island, along the scenic back roads of the island and back .

The race will have two categories: Fat bikes with tire widths over 3.75 inches and bikes with tire widths 3.75 inches or narrower. First place Men and Women of each category will be awarded and praised!!!

Road conditions will be dependent on the weather. Conditions expected will be packed snow, ice and possible exposed pavement. Studded tires are recommended although experienced winter riders have rode this course numerous times without studs on fat bikes.

The route will be on public access roads therefore all riders will have to obey all traffic laws. There will be NO traffic control assistance, riders will be expected to use sound judgment and common sense on the race route.

The course will be marked with arrow signs and maps will be handed out the day of the race.

Support vehicles will be on the course to pick up any riders in need.

Winter riding increases chances of vision impairment, falling, exposure, and fatigue. Please consider using goggles, full helmets (ie: ski helments) , face protection, and protective clothing against possible winds and sub-zero temperatures.   Studded tires are recommended.

Please go to www.northcoastcycling.com for more information and videos regarding the race and making studded tires.

Registration is $15 and can be done online or at the Bayfield pavilion starting at 9:00 am (cash or check only please).
