fyxation Mesa Pedal V2 – New and Improved

Nick from fyxation sent us a note that their new version of the Mesa V2 pedal will drop on January 20th (or so). Big news on the new version is that it has replaceable metal pins and (a personal favorite!) pedal flats on the spindle. Otherwise the new V2 carries on all the great virtues of the original Mesa pedal which, by the way, will remain available for those who don’t want, or need, the replaceable pins.

Stay tuned we have a set coming for review soon!

MESA METAL PIN

The Mesa pedal is ideal for freeride, BMX, winter, and urban riders that want a hard hitting pedal built to provide a solid platform for any style of riding. Made from impact grade nylon, the Mesa is a wide platform pedal with a super thin profile.

SPECS

  • High impact nylon body built to take abuse
  • Smooth running sealed bearing and DU bushing with a cro-moly spindle
  • Installs with 15mm open-end wrench or 8mm hex wrench
  • Replaceable steel pins for added grip
  • Weight: 351g /pair
  • Spindle thread: 9/16″

From what I’ve experienced so far, metal pins would be A LOT nicer! With metal studs, these pedals would be the shiz.

Yeah! I am totally looking forward to a set with the metal pins. I’ve managed to whack off 6 of the plastic pins on my original set of V1s that I got over the summer. Rocks and what not!

FWIW, Nick told me that they’ve redesigned the plastic, molded pin as well with a wider, conical shape that should be more durable.

All-in-all, I still love my Mesas.

These pedals are already available as the Nuke Proof Electron; these pedals are made in Taiwan.

I am riding both the Fyxation I and the Electrons. They are identical pedals other than the pins, which are socket head screws with nylock nuts.

The Fyxation I nylon pins tended to break off, one set I warranteed for that reason, they also had some loosening in the bearing and the end caps are known for falling out. the replacement pair has fared better.

For the new pedals, To improve wear, I’d suggest tightening the metal pins and end cap right out of the box.

I really like my Electrons they are durable, lightweight, low profile, and the steel pins are the perfect finishing touch. The Electrons are $50 deliverd from the UK. Hopefully the Fyxation II are as good.
