Quiring Eye Candy!

We received some Holiday Greetings from our amigo, Scott Quiring along with some pictures of a couple of fat-bikes that he’s been working on in December. We featured a Builder Profile on Quiring Cycles last April. Here’s some great news for you Ti fans out there, Scott tells us that he’s currently working on creating some hand crafted titanium fat bike frames! We can’t wait to share pictures of Scott’s craftsmanship in Ti! In the mean time check out what two lucky fat-bikers found underneath their x-mas trees!

    Wow, that stainless is sweet!
My understanding is that the stainless tubing cost almost as much as ti?

Hey I finished the build on that stainless, oh it was a treat to get that bike rolling. The welds were to die for, that’s how you weld a bike!

Very cool. What are those rims on the steel bike?

      They look like snowcat rims.

Re: the stainless pricing, you’ll find it varies a good bit by builder. I’ve seen/been quoted things from just above premium steel all the way to Ti pricing for a frame. Scott’s website has his base pricing, which last I checked was just between normal high-end, non-stainless steel and Ti.

The tubing itself is significantly cheaper than most Ti (have a look at KVA’s website), but apparently it’s as tough as Ti to fabricate the frame. Might even be tougher as it ‘s hardness and strength means machining is more costly.

BTW, Scott’s KVA stainless 29er frames are fantastic in my experience — got mine Nov.’12 and the fit/ride are spot on.
