Salsa & Surly Sponsor The 2nd Annual Fat Bike Summit

Salsa Cycles and Surly Bikes have signed on to become  presenting sponsors for the second annual Fat Bike Summit and Festival, Jan. 25 to 28, 2013 in Island Park, ID. The advocacy oriented Summit will focus on fat bike access to National Parks and Forests, while the Festival will provide enthusiasts with product clinics, demo rides, and races. The event is hosted and organized by Fitzgerald’s Bicycles and QBP. Registration is now open via fatbikesummit.com.

“Salsa is pleased to be involved with the fat bike summit because land access is an important issue,” said Salsa Cycles brand manager Jason Boucher, who will attend the Summit and Festival. “Fat bikes make it possible to ride places that people couldn’t ride before. Therefore we need to do our part as good stewards to help generate positive outcomes before problems develop.”

Tyler Stilwill, from Surly Bikes told us via telephone today “Surly is fully committed to getting bikes into, onto and around places they have never been before.  Winter biking is a passion of ours, because the idea of there being a time of year when we can’t ride makes us angry, and you wouldn’t like us when we’re angry. You probably wouldn’t like us when we’re happy either, but that’s another story.

During the Summit portion of the event, land managers from national parks and forests will discuss the barriers to fat bike riding on public lands. The Festival will begin Friday night and continue through Saturday and Sunday with clinics, demo rides, and presentations by endurance winter cyclist specialist Jay Petervary, who recently set a record in the Tour Divide Ride. Attendees who register prior to January 1 will receive a discounted rate and an exclusive engraved mini-tool from Park Tool.

Fat-Bike.com is also a sponsor of the Second Annual Fat Bike Summit and Festival
