The 2nd Annual Carver Lake Cold Catfish Cup will take place on Sunday, January 27 in Woodbury, MN. Featured sponsors at this year’s event include Angry Catfish Bike Shop + Coffee, 45NRTH, Lucid Brewing Company, Potter’s Pasties and Intelligentsia. The Cold Catfish Cup is a winter bike race that offers winter cyclists a little bit of everything when it comes to terrain. The course will feature the 5.5 mile single-track trail that has a variety of technical trail features, climbs and fast, snowy descents. Racers will start the course in a mass start and then complete a prologue before entering the single-track portion of the race. The prologue will feature a quick descent down to Carver Lake, crossing the sandy beach with a hot lap on the snow packed frozen lake. The advance class race course will be approximately 15 miles and the intermediate race course will be around 10 miles. All bikes, skill levels and ages are welcomed to join in on the fun! Various awards, prizes and swag will be passed out to participants. The overall champion will be awarded the Catfish Cup.
In addition to the race festivities, anyone in attendance will be able to hang out by the big ole’ bonfire, Angry Catfish will be featuring Intelligentsia Coffee and Hot Chocolate, and Potter’s Pasties will keep the food hot and ready from their food truck. And, If you enjoy a good brew, then you’ll also be excited to hear that Minnesota’s very own Lucid Brewing Company will be there with some tasty brews. A limited number of fatbike demos will be available. Following the race there will be plenty of shenanigans with the first ever Catfish Cup Fat Bike Sled Pull. It’s sure to be a good time!
