Cog Bike Cafe Belt Drive Neck Romancer from Australia

Bob-keller-frameworks-2467

Damian from Cog Bike Cafe in Australia sent in these pix of a Neck Romancer that they converted to belt compatibility for a customer and then finished it off with Rohloff build!

Here is a run down on the parts:

  • Surly Neck Romancer with Belt Drive Conversion
  • Gates Belt Drive
  • Red Rohloff Speedhub
  • Red 135mm Phil Woods Front Hub
  • Red Tune Speedneedle Saddle
  • Thomson Bar, Stem, Seatpost
  • Chris King Headset
  • Wheelset set up Tubeless
  • Avid BB7 Brakes
  • Ergon touring grips/barends

Damian says:

“I used a FIXE key joint, stainless steel plug inserts silver soldered into the seatstay with an alloy centre piece, to do the belt split. This is fixed in position with 2 x M8 bolts, discretely located underside. The chain-line turned out fine, (within 1mm) by turning the Gates rear cog back-to-front (etchings facing inwards, to the hub).”

“The gearing is 46t front and 22t rear. The low gear is quite low, ideal for the fat-bike. Still, the bike is largely (pardon pun) untested in the gear ratio department. We just handed over the bike to the customer, I’m sure he will keep me informed with the ride.”
