Northpaw Components recently introduced its new Northpaw-29+ bicycle rim, a 47mm, 29’er sized version of the Popular Northpaw-S rim that will be available at the end of April. The new rim will come in Black, Gunmetal or Silver and sell for $149.

While the development of the Northpaw-29+ was spurred by the inevitable availability of a 29×3.0 tire, this rim also works great with wider 29’er tires that are already available. On prototype rims tested tires include Schwalbe Racing Ralphs, Schwalbe Hans Dampfs and WTB Weirwolves in sizes 2.35 and up with great results and are looking forward to more tires choices and sizes!

Mounted Tire Widths:

  • Surly Knard 29 x 3.0 – 74mm at the Carcass, 76mm outer knobs.
  • Mountain King 2.4 – 58mm at the Carcass, 61mm outer knobs.
  • Hans Dampf 2.35 – 63mm at the Carcass, 60mm outer knobs.
  • Racing Ralph 2.35 – 63mm at the Carcass, 58mm outer knobs.

The Northpaw-29+ rims will be available at a growing number of local bike shops as well at at the Northpaw Components website at the end of April and keep your eyes here on fat-bike.com for a complete wheel test in mid-May.

    • Adam,

The rims do not have a bead lock at this time, however, we have successfully set up several sets tubeless. For the future we are working on a bead lock but don’t have firm plans yet.
