This was taken December 12, 2012 by Spinner on Ice Cave Road after a large snow storm hit Decorah, IA. I think the actual temp was in the 10 to 20 below range. This was taken from the cockpit of my first Pugsley. I remember stopping by the Decorah Fire Station and the looks of surprise on the guy’s faces. They had just been talking about me: “Even that idiot wouldn’t be out in this!” they chuckled to themselves. Luckily, I had the bike that was capable of being out in that weather. While the trails were too deep to ride, the roads were fat-bike ride-able I saw some amazing things that day, and I wouldn’t have had a chance on a regular bike, and driving around in a truck just wouldn’t be the same. The bike pictured is my “Grandpa’s Jama’s” Pug. It was my favorite bike, however it only survived Gnome Fest 8 for about 4 hours. The front end is now a grill mounted at the Pugsley Pit in Decorah, IA and the back end is now carbon-mated with a Colnago and cruising around Rochester, MN.
