Diamant / Nakamura – Mammut / BigBob Prototype(s) – Norwegian Fatness!

My man, Beeker told me that he has been seeing some snaps of a euro fat-bike around the fringes of the intertwebs, so I searched a little and came up with this interesting video.  The Diamant and Nakamura fat-bike is the same ride with different decals. The shops that sell them in Norway (G-Sport and Intersport) are owned by the same parent company and they sell them under two brand names.

It looks like you can already order a BigBob from a Norwegian site here and also view a few more details on the parts spec.

Editor’s Note: Thanks to the Angry Norwegian for setting us straight on the facts of how these Euro-fatties are coming to market!

Voltron’s cats would meow incessantly at this new development! So it could be a possibility Trek is seeing this as more $$$ in its belly, which makes me ponder (as I ponder quietly in the woods… often feeding my squirrel herd with nutella) if Cannondale, Specialized, etc., would see this as a threat.

I like this. Fatties have been here to stay and they have stirred the pot’s funkadelic fun factor. A la choy!

Voltron…thee Voltron or one of those Voltron Impersonators?

The Voltron – the 5 robot cats, sponsored by Apple 2, DOS, and some times some old HP printer that kinda works.

Good work on the edit guys! One small note though, the Nakamura fatbike is called the BigBob, not the BigBoy. And the guy who made the video above is Espen Wethe, who also designed these bikes and who has made several videos promoting them. He is the R&D manager for Diamant and Nakamura. Rumor has it that the Nakamura bike might also be launched internationally in other Intersport stores around the world.

Well, I ordered a Nakamura BigBoy last week from the Netherlands and my order was cancelled. It seems they (Intersport) don’t want to ship abroad.

Furthermore I asked and the guy at Intersport didn’t think it likely that the bike would be sold abroad through stores outside Norway.

The bikes are now being sold in the USA as Motobecanes (Fantom fb4) from bikes direct.com. That is awesome for for all of us. We get a sweet euro bike of our own. 🙂

I thought about one of those motobecanes and then found out that the rear hub is a 135.

can anyone speak to this? is it bad? it is true?
