We’ve been following Kona’s development of their new WO fat-bike for some time now. This week they released some new photos of their sample bike. The folks at Kona tell me that this is close to what the actual production bike will look like, but not exactly the same. We’ll be getting an up close and personal look at one of the production bikes as soon as they become available. We look forward to seeing how the WO rides! The WO features a Kona 6061 Aluminum Butted frame and fork – a zero stack headset – a dropper post ready seat-tube along with a lifetime warranty.

with that parts spec and frame design I bet that is every bit of 40 lbs

Oh man that rig looks sweet! Good spec to keep the cost down. Can’t wait for it!

Spec’d out with same type of components as my cheap internet brand full sus mtb. I believe this bike is over priced.

Your cheap internet mtb has standard hubs, BB, rims and tires and fork. The cost on those parts is going to be a fraction of what fat bike niche parts are going to cost. I believe Brad doesn’t understand economies of scale.

    Shimano hg20 casette? really?

I have a Kona Hei Hei supreme and love Kona… but this is kind of an… ehhhh. They should seriously sell this as a frame only option as well so people could properly build it up. I just don’t understand the price point. Why would someone not spend a very small amount more and get a Mukluk or a Pugsley with tried and proven Surly parts? The On-One Fatty is even cheaper and comes with hydro’s, 120tpi tires, and a 10spd drivetrain!

I’d take one of these over a 46 speed, Shmam XX45 carbon-ti-lugged 234mm rear hub spacing full suspension fat bike any day.

On a more serious note, really digging the sort of Jeff Jones vibe the shape of the frame/bars gives you, (although I’m sure he probably doesn’t appreciate that). Always liked Kona myself, never had a bad bike from them and I’ve had a few over the years. They seem to have their priorities straight, not trying to stuff some new random “innovation” down your throat. Here’s a decent, reasonably priced fat-bike you won’t be afraid to take on the beach or beat up in general, enjoy.

    Kona, +10 to you.

Nice double-nod to Hawaii-Five-0 there; Kona, the female cop and Wo Fat, the bad guy. (Wo fat bike). Wonder if anyone else noticed?

The Wo was indeed named for WO-Fat, the bad guy in Hawaii Five-O.
