Our amiga, Aileen, from Boisie, told me that she spied a custom Vibe Cycles fat-bike at a local Idaho trail advocacy shin-dig, so we both started to pester Dave and Christi over at Vibe to get us the low-down. I think the results were worth the wait! This gorgeous steel frame and Ti fork were built for a female client, but our friends from Vibe stop short of calling it a women’s specific design, due to the fact that, all their bikes, are designed and built, completely custom. So (man, woman or samsquatch) Vibe designs their fat-bikes to the client’s measurements and needs. In this case, they made the chain stays shorter to compact the frame and complimented that with a shorter top tube to accommodate the client’s shorter reach. Dave chose a blend of True Temper tubes in concert with Nova stays along with Paragon Machine Work’s head-tube, bottom-bracket & sliding drops, for this frame.
Their customer requested a unique pastel colour scheme with custom powder coating on the handlebar, stem and rims, to provide an accent to the pale yellow and green two tone powder on the frame and fork. We think it turned out quite stunning. I don’t think I’ve seen another fatty, like it!. It reminds me of what some of the shops in Japan do to stock Pugsleys, but with the added benefit of a totally custom frame build.
Vibe’s base steel custom frame starts at $1650, and this one with the added curves & internal cable routing ran $1950 for the frame and fork.
