David Gabrys from 45NRTH shared two new products with us that are both tailor made for fat-bikers. The new Bergraven Technical Gaiters and Cobrafist Pogies are everything that we’ve come to expect, from 45NRTH. That means the very best, high tech materials are utilized coupled with well thought out and innovative design. We believe that this will put both of these new products on many of our reader’s most wanted list. We think either of these items would be an excellent gift idea for the fat-bikers on your holiday gift list.
The Bergraven Technical Gaiters are a knee high – snow stopping, accessory to 45NRTH’s award winning Wölvhammer winter cycling boots that use 100g Primaloft ECO insulation and a Kevlar panel on the medial surface of the gaitor that will extend its life rubbing elbows with your crank arms for many winters to come. The Bergraven’s toe hook mates up perfectly with both versions of the Wölvhammer, but will also work very well with other winter boot options. Gaiters are the perfect way to keep snow, slush and water from getting into the tops of your boots. Gaitors also help to keep the blood that flows down to your feet nice an warm. I think these babies will be perfect for wet December beach rides and deep powder frolics, all winter long. The Bergraven Gaitors come in two sizes – 38-43 (medium) and 45-50 (grande). The MSRP is $85 and they’ll be available from bicycle dealers starting in November of 2013.
First off, we just have to say….How awesome of a name is Cobrafist!?! These technical fat-bike pogies are constructed with a super durable 600d poly outer shell, 400g Primaloft ECO insulation and feature zippered vents to help regulate temperature when things get warmed up from exertion or weather changes. The Cobrafist feature an innovative bar-end plug, handlebar attachment system that keep them in an upright and rider ready position. There are also two pockets inside to store energy snacks and gear where its nice and cozy. No more frozen gel shots when the mercury dips into the single digits. Pogies are straight up, the bomb when temps get into the twenties all the way down to below zero. My hands have never been as warm, wearing mittens or lobster gloves as they are using pogies. We think you’ll find that you can wear much thinner gloves when you ride with pogies and that makes for better control of your fat-bike’s shifters and brake levers. The MSRP on the Cobrafist Technical Pogies is $125 and they will also be finding their way to better bike shops in November of 2013!
