This episode of Reader’s Ride(s) features my old amigo Travis’ Love Machine! Travis and I met a few years ago at the 24 Hours of Wausau, held up at Nine Mile County Swamp, plus we’re gnome-fest cousins. Travis is one lucky goucho, because his wife, Kelly, presented this blood red and jet black work of art to him for Valentine’s Day this year! Travis works at Builers Cyclery, in Wausau, which puts him on the front lines of the war on Gnomes at trails like the Underdown, 9 Mile and the Nicolete-Roche, where he’s been sharpening his fat-skilz all summer.
Wausau (Central Big Whiskey) is working on a mountain bike regional ride center that will make the area a cycling, ride destination in coming years. You can keep up with the current trail developments by checking out the CWOCC-Central Wisconsin Offroad Cycling Coalition at http://cwocc.org/. This is the region that is home base for the Badger State Games and the Intergalactic Fat-Bike Stage Race coming this February.
