Wallpaper Wednesday – Bloody Teeth of the Sierras

tom-sierra

Here’s a stunning photo from Tom McDonald. You may remember that Tom was a finalist in our photo contest last year! Tom says:

The fact that this photo exists is called being in the right place at the right time! This was taken during an overnighter I did last weekend. I’d been looking for a place to sleep for the night but the usual place I stop on this ride had a deer carcass laying nearby that, even though it was stripped of meat, freaked me out a little. Instead, I moved on and slept beneath those fir trees in the valley to the right of this scene. After waking up glad to have not been eaten by the mountain lion that probably killed that deer (funny how your brain plays tricks on you when you sleep out in the open), I rolled out of my sleeping bag and rode into that sunrise Sunday morning, amazing. The location is not named on any maps, so from now on I’m going to call this area of the Eastern Sierra the “Amphitheater of the Gods”. The bloody teeth of the Sierra lasted only about a minute. A few hours then later I had bacon for breakfast down in Bishop. Life is good.
