This week, many, in the cycling industry are over in Taiwan at the Taipei Bicycle show. It’s rumored that fat-bikes are ruling the show over there, which bodes very well for this year’s new fat-bike products that will make their US premier at interbike this coming September. This week, Jeff Oatley broke the Iditarod Trail Invitational 1000 mile record by a full week in an amazing performance up in Alaska. This weekend, our amigo, Greg Matyas is hosting The Trio up in Talketna,Ak. You know Greg is going to throw down one hell of a race and legendary party! For those of us down in the lower 48, this is the weekend that we’ve all been waiting for…Ladies and Gentlemen : Start your engines! It’s time to find out who will be the first US Fat-Bike National Champion! 500 racers will line up to see who has the heart, legs and lungs to win the ‘stars and bars’ US National Champion Jersey. If you’re not registered, you should pack your bike, boots and cowbell, because there won’t ever be another FIRST – US Fat-Bike National Championship. The Chequamegon area boasts some of the most wild and remote groomed fat-bike trails in the state, so after you watch the race, you’ll be able to get out and ride world class trail. On Saturday night come and join us at the National’s After Party at the River’s Eatery! We’re raising funds at the party for the local groomed fat-bike trails. Then on Sunday morning, the Namekogan Fat-Bike Club is going to host a group ride at their Seely Trail Cluster. If you’re a fat-bike fan and you live within striking distance of Wisconsin’s northwoods, you should set your course to Cable this weekend! It’s not that often that we get to witness history, in the making, but this weekend is going to be legendary! For information about the race visit – www.birkie.com. I nominate Jeff Oatley for Fatbike National Champion. I mean how can anyone else come close? Although 500 entries is impressive.
