Part of the New 45NRTH Vanhelga tire’s ability to run tubeless is the pairing of it with the just introduced Whisky 70w No.9 Carbon Fat Trail Rim. Here is a bit more about No. 9 from the Q-Mothership.

It was Designed and Developed In House
QBP, the parent company of both Whisky and 45NRTH, has over a decade of design and development experience in fat rims, bikes and tires. We know what works and what doesn’t. We worked with Thor from Surly because, quite frankly, he has designed more fat rims than anybody else out there and he shares our love for design, engineering and riding.

70mm Wide
65mm inner/70mm outer actually. The sweet-spot size for year round ripping, blending the best of weight, traction and cornering. Mates up perfectly with 3.8/4″ tires creating an excellent tire profile, equally at home on twisting rooty-rocky single track, fresh groomed snow bike trails, and sandy-snowy-muddy race courses. Can you run a bigger tire? Sure, run some 5” rubber. There are definitely conditions that demand it.

575grams
We wanted a rim that would spin up nice and quick for our speed hungry friends, but not be fragile or flexy on the roughest of trails for those that want to shred.

Double Wall profile
Designed for trail riding. All things considered, this is how we got the strength, weight, tubeless capability and stiffness to align and work really well together. The inner profile lends itself to easy tubeless setup, while the outer profile sheds snow and mud with ease.

Carbon
Yep, it is. Don’t fool yourself into thinking carbon is just about how ridiculously light you can make something. For us,
it is about ride quality and stiffness with deflection where you want it. Weight is just the cherry on top. Hand-Laid of Unidirectional carbon fiber, with a healthy strip of 6k weave in the spoke bed for extra spoke and nipple support.

Tubeless Ready
Running tubeless allows for better conforming of tire to terrain, dramatic reduction in rotational weight, decreased rolling resistance, and much greater protection from pinch flats that will leave you replacing tubes on the side of the trail.

5 year warranty
We believe in our design, manufacturing, and testing. We know you will too. Our 5 year warranty is just a little extra assurance. We got your back.
