I’d like to nominate Jeff Price as our Correspondent from Wales…do I hear a second to that nomination? We’ve been featuring videos from Jeff over the last few weeks and this is the third monthly bivvy that Jeff has filmed. He shared the following about the trip.
As the weekend was approaching, I kept an eye on the weather forecast and it was looking favourable for an assault on the local ‘high’ ones. So after packing on Saturday morning, I made my way through familiar territory where I had rode for my July trip. The difference being this time I headed up the 2550 feet climb to the summit of Drum in Snowdonia, North Wales. The going was ok due to the tail wind aiding me. Then as I made the tough slog a further 600 feet up to Foel Fras the cloud level dropped and the views were a distant memory. Once on the plateau of the Carneddau mountain range the wild ponies were making a show to impress their mate!! The shelter on the summit of Foel Grach was welcomed from the lowering temperatures outside.
After making it my home for the evening I realised how much easier it was compared to staying in the tent or under the tarp. The evening gave me a glimpse of the sunset and then the cloud returned for the remainder of the trip.
The descent in the morning was an easy start to the day although a lapse of concentration sent me tumbling off the track, luckily with no harm done!!
With the winter fast approaching the final 3 trips could prove to be the toughest……….
