Fat (video) Tuesday ♦ Snowy North Wales

Our man in Wales, Jeff Price sent in his latest bivy-quest with a distinct winter flair. This is what Jeff had to share with us about the clip.

As snowfall in Wales can usually be confined to the mountain summits, when it gets down low I had to make the most of it. So off I went with snow and ice under my treads to one of my favourite places near to me, Cwm Eigiau. The area is steeped in history. In 1925 after several days rainfall the 14 year old reservoir dam broke and water flowed to the nearest village resulting in the deaths of 17 lives, so every time I cycle past the remnants of the dam a shiver runs through my body. My route also took me to the old slate quarry and ruins of an age gone by which dated back to the 1820’s where a coffee stop makes you ponder what would they think of the bicycle?
Despite the ice following the overnight frost the bike handled great, well after letting some air out of the tyres!! The scenery was superb which brought out the hill walkers who looked on in amazement that someone could ride a bike in those icy conditions. Some were also intrigued to find out more about this bike they have never seen before. A great ride which will stay in my memory and maybe in the minds of those walkers too……..

Cheers
Jeff ‘summittoppler’ Price

Great video. He put a lot of time in setting up the cameras. Exceptional scenery. Reminds me of Hatchers Pass, AK.
