First Look – Specialized Fatboy SL

Fatboy SL2015 Fatboy SL

Complete size medium bike weight:  approx. 24 lbs w/ Stan’s (I believe it was 24.1 lbs)

Same frame as the other Fatboy models, but with the following modifications:

27.2mm seat post-compatible seat tube (instead of 30.9)

Dedicated 1x drivetrain (removed the welded direct mount FD mount that’s on the other models)

Anodized finish

All of the changes resulted in a combined weight reduction of 200 grams from the standard frame

·         Geometry is the same as the standard frame

·         HED Big Deal carbon rims!

·         Full SRAM XX1 drivetrain!

·         RaceFace Next SL carbon cranks!

·         Magura MT8 brakes!

·         Specialized carbon bar

·         Specialized carbon seat post

·         Specialized hollow Ti rail saddle (image incorrectly shows carbon rail saddle)

    I have to admit that it’s so tempting for me to get rid of my 32lb Pug and 25lb FS 29er for this bike.

    Thats a pretty smokin’ deal for all of the components alone, but I would still prefer something carbon framed like my Echo

    Yes, very good deal. Unless you are plugged, in the components alone would be around 5g, retail + any tax. That’s parts and a free frame for most of us.

    Amazing bike! Have had mine for two weeks now and the only change I’ve made is with the h-bar for a riser h-bar. Very predictable and stable in all conditions so far.
