NEW! Fatback Skookum & Rhino

NEWS RELEASE – FATBACK INTRODUCES SKOOKUM & RHINO, NEW ALL-TERRAIN FAT BIKES

Anchorage, Alaska (August 12, 2015) – Fatback announces the addition of the SKOOKUM CARBON FRAME and the RHINO ALLOY FRAME to its lineup of all-terrain fat bikes. With their suspension-optimized design, these two are made to rip through whatever terrain you are willing to throw at them.

The concept for the Skookum was to take the handling characteristics of our favorite mountain bikes – agile, fast and sexy – and combine them with the capabilities of a 4.8″ tire – grip, flotation and comfort – to create a bike that can be ridden all day, in any terrain that would perform as well as a “less than plus size ” tire bike. This mountain devil was designed with a slack 68.5 degree head tube angle and a shortened chain stays to keep the bike nimble and comfortable while you are pinning it. The front end was built around an integrated headset and will come equipped with the 120mm RockShox Bluto fork. The Skookum’s rear triangle feature s 440mm chain stays and was built around the 197mm rear hub that Fatback developed in 2012 that is now the industry standard. The new frame will also feature internal routing for a dropper post and is available in 4 different build kits, as well as multiple wheel size options. The Skookum will be offered in the Chinook color scheme with molded armor for the down tube and chainstay.

The inspiration behind the Rhino was to take all the performance and comfort features of the Corvus and the new Skookum, and make a more affordable and capable fat bike. We wanted a bike that could be ridden rigid, or with suspension; with gears, or as a single speed; in the snow, on the beach, or into our back country trails. The lightweight alloy frame comes standard with a color-matched rigid fork, but Bluto and Lauf fork options are available. The rear end features 197mm hub spacing and sliding dropouts for easy single speed conversion. Like all Fatback frames, the Rhino is designed to accommodate multiple wheel sizes and drivetrain options. The new Rhino will be offered in Pacific Blue and Outback Green.
