Sven and I have been threatening to launch Fat-Bike TV for quite some time and this is our first episode! We introduce you to the Heller Bloodhound, as we prepare to hand this bike off to Lt. Evan LarSSon for testing and review, over the coming weeks!
The Bloodhound is a really sharp looking bike that comes in at a very reasonable price point of $2,199 for the rigid and $2,599 for the Bluto equipped version. Heller is a new house brand from Qulity Bicycle Products (QBP), the same folks that bring you Surly, Salsa and Cogburn Fat-Bikes. Check out the geometry of the bloodhound (below).

Fat Bike TV Episode 1 Kicked Ass! Can I get 24 hour round around the clock Fat-Bike coverage please??? I want to see the episode where Fat-Man and Ronin take on Max Thrust and Ginger Gillespie in a heated battle for the last of the whisky in the flask at the top of the hill!
Looks good. What is the maximum tire clearance for front and rear?
Can I run 5” tires on this bike?
The frame won’t quite fit 5” tires, but here are some wider tires that will fit the Bloodhound frame.
26 x 3.8 – 4.25” on a 100mm rim or 26 x 4.3-4.5” on a 80mm rim.
27.5 x 3.0-3.25 (27.5-plus) or 29 x 2.3-3.0” (includes 29-plus)
Bet a Bud/Lou will work on a pair of 65’s…
Does anyone else think it’s strange the thing weighs 32lbs? What’s the point of the carbon fiber? Lots of fatbikes come in at that weight – WITH a Bluto
The point of carbon fiber on this frame is that it’s an “open mold” frame, meaning Heller is just a re-branding of a generic carbon frame available from some manufacturer, so they can get a carbon framed fatbike for a fairly low price. Fatback Rhinos come in at the same weight, cost less, and have 1×11. QBP really missed the mark on this.
