The Big Fat Bike Festival is a low-pressure fundraiser for the Homer Cycling Club, 2016 will be the 5th annual BFBF! Highlights include a 16 mile beach ride and transportation, obstacle course, t-shirt, good food and brew, raffle and silent auction, bon fires and good time. The ride for the 2016 Big Fat Bike Festival is on Saturday morning, March 12th, that will start at the Islands and Ocean Visitor Center where we’ll sign-in, load the bus, and shuttle to our disembarkation point at the Coho Campground in Anchor Point. This route is a mix of smooth, fast beach below the high tide line, with gravel, rock and boulders on the high beach. You’ll find a cozy bonfire about 10 miles in at Diamond Creek where you can warm up before venturing on to Bishop’s Beach in Homer.
The ride is approximately 16 miles long follows the beautiful bluffs of the south shore of Kachemak Bay with ample opportunity to enjoy the view.
On Friday evening, March 11th, come kick off the BFBF with a Meet and Greet bonfire at Bishop’s Beach. The traditional obstacle course will be ready for riding so bring your bikes and do some loops!
Like to win prizes!? Come try your luck in the raffle at Alice’s Champagne Palace where the BFBF crew will be enjoying a burger and brew (included in your registration). There will be a silent auction too. Come bid on and win some cool stuff from our awesome supporters!
