The guys at State Bicycles sent us a note and some pix of the updated version of the Megalith Fat-bikes that are available in both Singlespeed and 8-speed models. We did a review on their State Bicycles’s first fat-bike about this time last year and JK found it to be a good, basic fat-bike with room to upgrade if the bug strikes you.

The Singlespeed version starts at $699.00 while the 8-speed Megalith goes for $829.00 with Free Shipping in the US on either model.

Both versions of the Megalith have an improved 4130-Chromoly steel frame & fork with the frame sporting a better chainline and stronger brake mounts, the BB has been upgraded to a GXP while the Avid BB5 Disc Brakes and 100mm drilled rims continue on. Plus, the 2016 versions come in new color schemes, either midnight blue/orange or neapolitan.

State is sending us an 8-speed version for testing this year so we’ll have more down the trail!

  1. $800 for a bike with crappy lame 8 speed Freewheel???? At this price point nothing less than a 9 speed freehub/cassette is acceptable. Chromoly Frame is good though
