David Pinkerton sent us this week’s new wallpaper for your desktop. This is a portrait of his Fatboy at the base of Mt Jemima, out in the Pine Barrens of NJ! I asked David about his local fat-bike scene and this is what he shared.
Oh my God fat bikes are made for the Pine Barrens! There’s pretty much a mix of everything from hard-pack to Sugar Sand, to slight elevation (not much cuz it is Southern New Jersey after all). We’ve got single track, double track, mud, water plenty of places that are all fat-bike material. I’ve been riding out there for years, got the Fat Bike bug back when you had to get on a waiting list to get one, there was only a few around, and you were lucky to see somebody maybe once a month with another fat-bike out there… now every everybody’s got them out there, it’s crazy! Definitely my favorite place to ride but then again I’m biased because I grew up here.

Wow great photo. Looking forward to riding my own In The South Jersey Pinelands. I just picked up a “Framed Minnesota 2.0” entry level fat bike. I need to break it in along with conditioning myself but I plan on riding it every chance I get. Such a giant leap from the diamondback mountain bike I used to ride.
Thanks for posting my pic Gomez! If anybody would like to ride the pines, check out Batsto Village as a starting point. They have bathrooms available, a food truck is usually in the lot, along with vending machines…Look for the Trailhead at the far end of the lot where you’ll see a kiosk with maps,and info on the various trails.
