I know the frost is barely on the pumpkin, but that isn’t putting a dent is the enthusiasm for fat-bike racing here in America’s Dairyland. Our friends over at Wheel and Sprocket just announced their 2017/18 schedule for the the Hugh Jass Fat Bike Race Seiries. The First race is on October 7th, 2017 and is right up the road at Minooka County Park just west of Milwaukee.
These races embrace a really fun focused format that includes points for wearing plaid or blaze orange. (Lumberjacking and Deer Hunting are really important in Wisconsin.) They also incorporate a crazy game called hammer schlagen and it’s all done in a laid back festival atmosphere. And it kind of goes without saying, because this is Wisconsin, but there’s really good craft brewed beer at every race! A bunch of our bike black ribbon test pilots, podcast members, and amigos participate in the series and we’ll be hosting special events and reports on the Dose of Fat Podcast about the races all winter long.
So you might not be familiar with Hammer Schlagen, but you’ve been meaning to take up a new hobby and who doesn’t like to get hammered. right? Every lap, you get to drive a nail into a big ole stump, before your lap can be counted.
So now that we’ve introduced you to Hugh Jass, you probably want to find out more about how you can get together and ride bikes or maybe you’d like to learn how to register for the series.
