Wallpaper Wednesday ♦ 7/25/18

Betsy Williford shared this week’s Wallpaper with us from Colorado and here’s a little bit about this week’s photo.

Freshly into bikepacking I loaded up my fatty to test out my setup on what planned to be a daytrip only. I set out from Frisco, Colorado and rode the Ten Mile Creek bike pathway from Frisco to Copper. From there, I went up CO-91 towards Leadville, climbing at a nice slow pace for 5 miles before finally reaching the start of the Mayflower Gulch Trailhead, undoubtedly one of my favorite areas to hike in both summer and winter because the views are just fantastic. At the trailhead I had another 2-3 miles of climbing to do before the narrow road gave way to an open valley tucked under the jagged crest of Fletcher Mountain. The cabins are remnants of an old mining operation. Took a nice break to soak it all in before heading back down towards Frisco and ultimately stopping off a campsite along the CT for an overnighter before finishing up my trip. This was one of those rides where the destination was the reward for the work. Always keeping it fat and fun!
