News Release from our friends at Revelate Designs
Anchorage, Alaska, January 23, 2019 – Constantly innovating and improving, Revelate Designs pushes forward with the release of the Polecat, a unique drybag built for use in large volume cargo cages, and the Terrapin System 14L, a full redesign of their flagship seat bag.
“Cargo cages have been around for a while now and I didn’t want to build just any old cylinder shaped bag for them. The Polecat is built to be lighter than any other bag out there while eliminating wear points and adding reinforcements where needed”, says lead designer Eric Parsons.
The result is a uniquely shaped, radio frequency welded drybag that is 40 to 50 percent lighter than existing options.
The Polecat features a contoured, low-profile base and urethane Hypalon reinforcements at high wear areas. Urethane coated daisy chain webbing loops make it easy to secure the Polecat to a fork or downtube mounted cargo cage. The 3.7-ounce drybag accommodates up to 3.5 liters of volume with a roll top closure.
The redesign of the Terrapin System 14L was driven by Revelate’s new and innovative indie-rail attachment system. Also found on their Terrapin System 8L and Vole seat bags, the attachment system provides unparalleled stability with its rigid structure, cam locking hardware, and an external plastic compression panel.
“It looks very similar to the pervious Terrapin, but every single pattern and piece of hardware has changed. It’s a completely new product. This overhaul brings the stability and performance of our indie-rail system into a high volume bag.” says Parsons.
The Terrapin seat bag system was released in 2013 and was the first seat bag system with a removable drybag on the market. Now in its fourth generation, these design updates improve ease of use and durability standing to further the Terrapin System’s reputation as a key piece of bikepacking gear.
