Today’s Wallpaper Wednesday features the newest addition to our product testing department, the Extrawheel Mate bikepacking trailer. Extrawheel is located in Harklowa, Poland, and makes single-wheel bike trailers and dry-bag panniers for bikepacking. Last Winter, they created a fat-bike version of their trailer called the “Mate”.
We were slated to receive our test trailer last March and then the Covid19 Pandemic shut everything down. There are a couple of these trailers out in the wild and I follow a couple of them on Instagram. So I was surprised when people didn’t know what the Mate was designed to accomplish when I posted it to our social network. I need to remember that not everyone follows fat-bike trailer news as closely as we do here at the fat dash bike dot com news-room.
Today’s wallpaper shows the trailer with no bag attached so you can see the patented fork and the trailer’s construction. It’s what’s on my computer desktop. The bike featured is my Fatback Corvus FLT with Borealis 50mm wide Carbondale 27.5 wheels and (for traction sweet chewiness) 45NRTH Dillingers. The foto below shows the Mate with a pair of their 25 Liter bags attached.
I”ll be putting our new Mate through the ringer for the next few weeks. I’ve got some camping and packrafting adventures planned so stay tuned to this fat channel!
