New Bontrager Circuit WaveCel Helmet

Back in September, Bontrager sent us a new WaveCel version of their Circuit Helmet along with a set of front and rear rechargeable daytime blinky lights. The Circuit helmet is designed with Blendr magnetic mounts for lights or camera accessories. Included in the package was a Bontrager NeoVisor, which attaches to the helmet with velcro. I’m a fan of running blinky lights and the Bontrager Ion 200 RT / Flare RT Units work great. I’m a good fit for the size XL Bontrager WaveCel Helmet mold and I often wear a cycling cap under my helmet. So far, the Circuit was bowling a perfect game.

The Circuit employs a Boa micro-adjustment knob at the rear of the helmet that makes for a comfortable and customized fit. There’s a new and unique strap cradle that sits just below the ear that seems to improve fit and comfort. The first time that I strapped all of the lights on and went for a ride, it felt a little like a space mission, but once I was out on the trail that feeling faded.

Readers have asked if the WaveCel matrix allows sufficient airflow under hot summer conditions. I’ve been wearing WaveCel Helmets all summer and haven’t had any complaints about their venting properties. But I’m pretty temperature tolerant, be it hot or cold.

The Blendr magnetic mounts on the Circuit make it really easy to turn the blinky lights on and off, especially the rear one. I just pull the light off of the magnet, turn it on, and then reattach it to the helmet. Much easier than reaching down behind the seat post to turn on a blinky. But that’s if you’re the forgetful type that has to turn on their lights while riding. These mounts can also be used for more than just blinky lights.

“Circuit WaveCel Road Bike Helmet is an Ultra-versatile helmet that is light, cool, and sleek with the added protection of WaveCel advanced helmet technology and the convenience of magnetic light mounts.” This is the perfect time of year to get your light system charged with the daylight getting shorter and the night getting longer, the Bontrager Wavecel Circuit Helmet makes mounting your lights a snap and the WaveCel helps protect what’s left of my brain.

I’ll be rock’n the Circuit into the first part of winter and report back with a full review somewhere down the frozen trail amigos! You can check out more at trekbikes.com
