It’s been about a year since I visited the Bicycle Doctor to check out the 2021 Pivot Les Fat. (Now I work there part-time) When I showed up to work last week, there was a size medium 2022 Pivot Les Fat, resplendent in Forest Sage Green hanging in the work stand.
Dan was building it up to go out on the sales floor. We all gave our two cents about the color and the graphics. El Dorado mentioned the color matching the water in Lake Michigan and that helped it kind of grow on me as the bike came together. There are some home appliance-inspired color blocks on the seat stays that rather clash with the sublime aqua tones. On a positive note, Pivot spec’s a color-matched Manitou Mastodon fork on this build. The bike looks great when it’s fully built and it might just resemble glacial ice when photographed in the snow.
The downtube at the bottom bracket is massive on this bike! Pivot states the Les fat is “Compatible with almost every wheel size available, from 26” and 27.5” Fat to 27.5+ to 29er, the LES Fat is a four-season hardtail that can take you from singletrack to snow to sand with no compromises.” The 2022 Les Fat comes spec’d with 27.5 Fat wheels and a 12 speed Shimano XT drivetrain.

I’ve ridden both the 2021 and ’22 Les Fat and I’d ride this bike if I ever found myself in need of a new fat-bike. I think that Pivot should offer an option for carbon wheels but you can always work that out with your local Pivot dealer at the time of purchase.
