The Mitchell County Mountain Goats and Limestone Brewers are hosting the Punksutawney Peddler a few days after the official burrowing rodent winter weather forecast that you might know as “groundhog day”. It’s rumored that Punksutawney Phil impersonators all over the country go on huge binges after Groundhog Day. There are a million groundhog stories in the book of gnome and the Punksutawney Peddler is one of my favorites. Mitchel County is in N. Central Iowa and the ride is scheduled for Saturday, February 5th.
In this day and age, it’s nice to know that not every fat bike event is a race! This group ride looks like they have all of the bases covered. Start at a brewery, chase varmints with fat bikes for a couple of hours, enjoy a nice warm fire out in the woods, and then regroup back at the brewery. That sounds like fun to me!
