FatFOD

Last weekend I met up with some of the fat bike guys from the south of England for FatFOD.

FatFOD is an annual met up run by Graham Foot of Smokestone bikes. A couple of social days riding the natural tracks close to Gloucester followed by beers in the evening.

Big views

Saturdays route was a great 18 miler which 40 of us enjoyed as we followed Graham’s wheel. The terrain was a mix of singletrack in the woods, double track and tracks through wheat fields which were all linked together by a few country lanes.

Hold on!

The banter was great along the way, some people knew one another and it was great for me to put a face to an internet name.

After the ride finished we all ended up back at the camp site for some well earnt beers and chatting all things bikes.

The route on the Sunday was an absolute blast. Graham took us out for the whole day just riding singletrack through the woods with the odd crossing of a road here and there. My Bucksaw handled the tight twisty tracks perfectly and my hat goes off to those who rode these trails on rigids!

It was a great weekend, despite a mechanical issue putting paid to my Saturday ride five minutes in! Looking forward to the next fat venture.
Oh, and for those wondering what the FOD element of FatFOD means (pretty sure you can all work out the “Fat” part) it’s the area of the Forest of Dean.

Hi Dan, shame you had a mechanical so early on! It was a great ride.
Thanks for the explanation of FOD, I missed that out on the show notes.
