On, yeah. What the heck is Bluesky?
Bluesky is a social media platform created to give people more control over their online experience. Unlike traditional social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter, Bluesky is built on technology that is designed to make social media more open, decentralized, and customizable.
Uhhuh. How does that help me?
- Open and Decentralized: Instead of being owned and controlled by one company, the AT Protocol (the tech behind Bluesky) allows different apps and platforms to connect with each other, kind of like how email works across different providers. This gives users more freedom and choice in how they interact online.
- Customizable Experience: Users can choose their own algorithms to control what they see in their feeds, rather than being stuck with algorithms chosen by a company.
- You own your data: Users can easily move their account, content, and followers to other AT Protocol-based platforms if they decide to leave BlueSky. This reduces the risk of losing years of work and connections.
bsky.social is Bluesky’s official app and one way to access the platform. Think of it as a doorway to the Bluesky world.
In short, Bluesky is a new type of social media that prioritizes user control and choice. It’s an exciting alternative if you want more say in how you experience social media!
We are not interested in X although we had a good presence on Twitter. The previous regime stopped posting to Twitter on October 30, 2022. Looks like I quit posting to my personal Twitter account on December 17th, 2018.
As for other sites, here’s the scoop. We obviously had a strong presence on Facebook and Instagram but the previous regime kicked me out of my own account that I started in 2011! Yep, didn’t realize that could be done. I thought the Owner would always have access. Not in the case of Facebook and Instagram. So, we are trying to see how we can regain access to our property but may have to start from scratch. More on this as it develops.
Are you using a Social Media App that you like and think we should check out? Let us know in the comments!

Yay! I’m looking to move over to bsky and leave the other places, so I’m glad there’s starting to be more hobby based stuff there, too! Yeah, you got a new follower.
