Not sure if it was even called the Fat Bike Birkie yet but the 40th ANNUAL AMERICAN BIRKEBEINER was February 21-23, 2013. What you may not yet have known at the time was that if you were a fatbiker there was a new event, a fatbike race, on the Birkie trail that ran 2 weeks AFTER the Birkie was run! The Fat Bike Birkie became the largest fatbike race in the world very quickly!
