Wallpaper Wednesday: Packrafts float better than fat bikes

Time to get the packraft out!

Sure, with their big tires, fat bikes do float, but I would not use mine to go down the river! For that, I strap the Alpacka Caribou Packraft on the handlebars and ride 9 miles north to the Phillipi Landing in Cable. It only takes about 10 minutes to inflate my blueberry-colored raft and float back home.

And the fat bike comes with me on my paddle. I remove the wheels, lay the frame on the raft first, then the wheels. Snug up a couple of long Voile straps and I’m ready to paddle down the Namekagon River. I typically take out at the Sawmill Saloon and stop in for a sandwich and a beer.

Puck proves once again that fat bikes float.

The Sawmill is also less than a mile from my house, so even if I get a bit wet on my paddle, the ride home is nothing to complain about.
