Throwback Thursday – This Week in Fat Bike History from 7-27-12

This column is all about fat-bike history! I really dig checking in on stuff that happened during the early days of the fat-bike craze! Fat-bike.com was there! Reliving the “good ol’ days” while writing these columns sure brings back good memories and reminds me that there are many more to come!

Things you’ll need to know about each event –

  • Event Name
  • Location
  • Dates and Times
  • Website
  • Is it a race, demo or festival – (or something else?)

  1. My first fatbike was a 2012 9zero7.
It got back me into winter riding after a long hiatus and got me away from riding on a boring trainer. Riding on packed down narrow paths where one slip means falling over into powdered snow made me giggle like a kid again.
I started mountain biking back in 1984 on full rigid bikes and riding my fatties bring me back to those days.
I currently have three fatties-one aluminum, one Ti and a fat recumbent trike.
I don’t see myself riding any type of “mountain bike” anytime soon.

  2. Right on, Kent! You followed a similar path to me! If you’d like to share a photo or two that would be great! Love to see your quiver.
