Great Bear Chase Snowbike Race and Midwest Snowbike Championships

The Great Bear Chase Snow Bike Race is scheduled for March 11, 2012 -- the day after the annual Nordic ski marathon of the same name -- on the Swedetown ski trails in Calumet, Michigan. The snowbike race, billed as the Midwest Snowbike Championships, offers two race distances: 10k and championship 25k, with the 25k using the same course as the ski race. One of the snowiest places in the country, deep snow is a safe bet on the Keweenaw Peninsula, even in March. The undulating ski trails, groomed with a Pisten Bully, are nearly certain to be worthy of a championship snowbike race.
