When? Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2013. Registration opens 9:00am, Registration closes 9:45am, A Race 10:00am, B Race 10:01, Lunch served 12:00pm, Derby 2:00pm(ish)
Where? Plan A:Christmas Hills Recreation Area, St. Maries, ID, 3 Miles up Christmas Hills Rd. from Hwy 3, 2 miles south of town. Road is expected to be snow-packed and icy so 4WD or chains recommended. In case of lots of snow, Plan B:Masonic Lodge corner of 8th St. and College Ave. neutral start to the snow, finish before hitting the highway, Derby in town.
What? A cross-country mountain bike race on snow-packed trails. The course is a 5-7 mile loop on a variety of terrain. A Race 20-25 miles, B Race 10-15 miles
Cost?$25.00 pre-registration through active.com or paper registration by Monday, January 28th. Day of registration is $35.00. $5.00 cash back either pre-registered or day-of if you bring wood for the bonfire. Derby, bring $5.00 in cash, in ones, for the kitty. Lunch is included and more pre-registered riders means more prizes and swag for you.
Fatbike Needed? We have a bunch of snowmobiles, a couple of snowcats and a nordic track groomer to pack the trail down enough for most xc mountain bikes, as the winter progresses, we'll know more about trail conditions.
What about Sunday? We have hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails, options include a winter tour of the Route of the Hiawatha Bike Trail with numerous tunnels and trestle bridges and the almost 4000' climb to St. Joe Baldy Peak.
