About Fat-bike.com

Fat-bike.com has been covering fat-bikes, the people who ride them and the culture around them since 2011. What started as a place to share bikes, gear and rides has grown into more than a decade of fat-bike news, stories, podcasts, events and industry history.

Today, Fat-bike.com covers new bikes and gear, industry news, events, ride stories, interviews and the people and companies shaping fat-biking. The current site connects that ongoing coverage with the Weekly Dose of Fat newsletter, our podcasts, the Fat-bike Lab community and a legacy archive of more than 1,000 articles from the original site.

Fat-bikes grew out of riders finding ways to travel over soft terrain, from desert sand in Texas and New Mexico to snow in Alaska. That broader DNA still fits the way we look at them today. Fat-bikes are not just winter bikes. We ride them on snow, sand, dirt, trails and city streets, and Fat-bike.com follows the sport wherever those big tires take people.greg fatbike in

About Greg

Greg Smith founded Fat-bike.com in Milwaukee in 2011 and is the site's owner and publisher. Longtime readers may also know him as Sven Hammer, the name used through much of Fat-bike.com's earlier years.

Greg's background includes cycling, photography, media and the bicycle industry. Fat-bike.com grew out of those interests and a fascination with a category of bikes that was still developing rapidly when the site launched.

Today, Greg continues to report on bikes, products, events and fat-bike culture while producing the Weekly Dose of Fat and Full Spectrum Cycling podcasts and running the Fat-bike Lab community.
