Welcome to the Mainely Fatty Winter Bike Races! Sunday, March 15, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. on the trails at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, ME. Sponsored by Rainbow Bicycles, Cyclemania, Bikeman and Gorham Bike and Ski. Pineland Farms has an awesome sledding hill, roaring fires to warm up to next to the trails, warming huts/yurts, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, a welcome center with delicious food, and more. Not interested in racing? Come and cheer on your friends, volunteer, or demo a fat bike! Spend the day racing and enjoying everything Pineland has to offer.

Course Details
Mostly sweet single track on rolling with a few short climbs along with inspiring views of the farm. There are some flat sections on course as well where you’ll be able to push the pace.  We will dial in the exact course pending on trail conditions, but will aim to offer ~2 hrs. of racing for the Experts and ~1 hr. of racing for the Sporty Fatties.

Registration includes opportunity to win a new Carver O’Beast carbon fat bike fork from Bikeman valued at $300!

$25 online until Midnight on Friday, March 13, 2015
$30 Day of Registration

10:00 a.m. – Expert Category (2 Laps/~12 mi.)
10:30 a.m. – Sport Category (1 Lap/~6mi.)

The course will be open before and after the races for extra trail time.

Notes and Rules
The race will be held regardless of weather conditions (unless there is a severe storm). The final course will be based on the conditions of the available trails. There's a lot of snow out there!  We need help packing down the track, so grab your snowshoes/bike/sled/child and head to Pineland! We hope to hold the skinny-bike category, however if conditions don’t bode well for racing on skinny tires, that category will be omitted.

Bikes must have 3 inch or wider tires. After a thaw or rain, trails can become slick depending on the amount of snow on them. If this happens, consider the use of studded tires.

All participants must sign the waiver form prior to the race. There will not be refunds.

Dress for success; think warm layers, multiple glove/mitten options, facemask, shoe covers, and more.  A change of clothes post race could be a game changer. It's winter in New England; therefore, it could be freezing cold or balmy, rainy or snowy, muddy and slippery. Be prepared with the right gear (and attitude) and you will be guaranteed a fantastic time.

We would like to have a kid’s race pending on conditions and weather.

Prizes
Top 3 men and women in the Expert category will receive cash and top 3 men and women in each sport race will receive cool merchandise.

So why show up for this?  Because if you haven’t tried fat biking, it is quite possibly the most fun you can have on two wheels; you haven’t done any hard efforts since the last cyclocross race and fitness is waning; it’s been really cold outside and cabin fever is at a record high, and this winter has been relentless, but you’re tough and this is going to be a ton of fun!

Thank you for registering and supporting the Mainely Fatty! Our goal is to develop this into an annual event that offers a ~35 mile  course entirely on snow. A huge thank you goes to John Grenier, the staff at Rainbow Bicycle and supportive for their support and planning of this event. If it wasn’t for John’s help, we’d still be thinking about this race. Instead, we’re doing it. Also, a special thanks to our sponsors and supporters David Brink, Eddie Quinn, and the Cyclemania crew, Forrest Carver and Big Al with Bikeman, Dave Palese with Gorham Bike and Ski, and the awesome friends in the local cycling community for supporting the organization of Mainely Fatty. See you in a few weeks!
