I have more experience hiking than overnight riding, but in my experience on a bike, and hiking:
– get rid of the backpack
– use a fleece-lined stuff-sack for a pillow
– take a Z-rest (because inflatable pads fail eventually)
– take a tent biking that doesn’t need a HIKING pole
– you need screen to keep the bugs out
– ‘Tarptents’ are great, except when driving rain knocks the condensation onto you inside
