SLATE by fatbike

With restrictions being lifted here its great to be able to get out and do what I’ve missed doing for the past few months. So I’ve got some catching up to do!

For this bikepacking overnighter I went to a local area that rich in slate history, the Cwmorthin & Rhosydd slate mines. The mines and quarries date back to the 1830’s and hundreds of men worked here to supply the local community and beyond slate for buildings work.

I’ve been here many times before but the area never disappoints when you sit and think how they managed to work and live here in such basic times.

I made my way up the mountainside and beyond the mines for a quiet pitch with the chance of fine views. However the weather had a different idea.

The morning saw yet more mist which made navigation a testing experience.

Hey Summit. Can you give us a list of your bikepacking gear? I would like to plan an overnight trip and want to travel somewhat light. 🙂
    Thanks for the amazing videos.
