The Weekly Dose of Fat – Friday the 13TH Edition

I found myself mesmerized by this short film about bikepaking and packrafting in Argentina. Poeple are already talking about a Gnomie Nomination for this spellbinding look at life in “Patagón”

Terrene Releases Newly Designed Chunk 2.6 Trail Tire

Bozeman, MT—April 12, 2018 — Terrene Tires announces a strong new addition, Chunk 2.6, to their proven lineup of bicycle tires.

Terrene Tires, a rider owned company launched in 2016 has introduced a newly designed Chunk model tire in the versatile 2.6-inch width for aggressive trail and enduro riding. Building off of the proven design of their existing Chunk model tires, Terrene has created the Chunk 2.6 to inspire control and confidence in riders while pushing their limits on the rowdiest enduro stage or the local flow trail.

“The addition of the Chunk in 2.6-inch width compliments our already popular Chunk 2.3 by offering an additional choice in both casing volume and tread aggressiveness, allowing riders to tune their bike to how and where they are riding through the various choices of width, casing, and tread height,” said Terrene General Manager Tim Krueger.

Continuing with its goal of simplifying the tire buying experience and bringing to market a full line of high-quality tubeless ready bicycle tires, Terrene is delivering a tire that expands on its current lineup of mountain, gravel, touring, and fat bike tires with the addition of Chunk 2.6, a new tread design and size that gives riders a stable, precise, and confidence inspiring trail tire to push the boundaries of aggressive trail riding in a multitude of riding scenarios.

“For me, Chunk 2.6 was the ability to apply 5 years of tire design and a lifetime of riding into a tire. It was everything that I wanted in a tire,” says Terrene Designer Anders Broste. “While it was what I wanted, it was also driven by feedback from the people I respect the most. Four iterations and feedback from many riders has resulted in a tire that I’m most excited for and proud of.”

Designed around modern width trail rims, the aggressive trail and enduro influenced Chunk 2.6 tread was designed and engineered to be effective in demanding trail riding scenarios where braking, acceleration, and cornering confidence are paramount to a successful ride. The 2.6-inch size blends the grip, traction, and stability benefits of larger volume, wider footprint plus tires with the precision and response of smaller volume mountain tires.

“Control and confidence is what this tire was designed to inspire—all while pushing personal limits,” says Broste. “From a design standpoint I wanted to make the transition time from center to edge shorter and give more support to the outer edges by increasing the block size and support to give confidence in cornering at speed. The center knobs were also beefed up to increase breaking and acceleration.”

With the addition of their newest trail tire, Terrene also continues to make each of their tire models available in two different constructions, Light and Tough. Each build is engineered to stand up to the demands of its intended use case and has been designed and tested to ensure that it works in the real world rather than just on paper. Chunk 2.6 will be available in Light and Tough versions in both 27.5 and 29-inch sizes and will retail for $75.
