Two-time SSUSA Champion, Spinner Ryerson interviews two-time SSUSA champion and recreation director of the SSUSA in Port Jervis New York this year, Mr, Dejay Birtch. It doesn’t get more seedy underbelly of cycling counter-culture than SSUSA. The event is steeped in tradition and the black arts, so to capture all of that grittiness we went down the road of low-tech and recorded this at Spinner’s Summer Castle on the Shores of Lake Babboux, while Dejay hurtled down the interstate somewhere near the bible belt on his way from Tucson to New York. We were all joined on this recording by Spinner’s pack of hounds and god-awful highway traffic.
The Black Ribbon Radio Hour is a production of the Bike Black Ribbon Society. Special thanks to Chris Daisy, Evan Larsson and Diamond Dave Krueger for their recorded bits from today’s show. This program is made possible by Voodoo and duct tape.
