Arctic Alta (NORWAY)

The largest fat bike race in Norway is the Arctic Alta (also a ski race). Check out the video for the split-screen bike/ski action and I think that you’ll get fired up for this one! Check out their website for more information or follow them @articalta on the gram.

Artic Alta – February 26th, 2023

Course Description

The first 10k goes along easy terrain and wide tracks. After the first 10k, there is a sprint prize, and the first checkpoint, there will be a road crossing. Then the course narrows and crosses the Eiby river and follows the valley with the famous Alta river. There is another checkpoint with nutrition at 15,5 k, and an emergency toilet at 17,5 k before you cross over the Alta River. Then there is 2,5 k with approximately 10% incline. On top of the long climb, the climb prize comes and you arrive at the third checkpoint. From here the tracks follow the snowmobile course 1,5k before turning left and going into the open woods. You have reached the highest point of the course, and you start a long descent toward 32k where the third checkpoint is. The last 10k is flat with some short steep uphills following lighted trails down to Kaiskuru ski stadium.
