2016 Kootenay Fatbike Festival

The Event:

The Rossland Fat Bike Festival event will be running alongside the Rossland Winter Carnival and will be held over 3 days. The intent of the event is to promote the sport of winter bike riding in Rossland and the Kootenay’s. Local bike shops who participate will have an opportunity to promote fat bikes and related accessories to those who are new to the sport.

Day One (January 29)

10am - 2pm Demo Day: The bike shops participating will bring their demo bikes and people with get an opportunity to try the bike out under supervision. Bike shops will be encouraged to bring out accessories specific to riding in colder temperatures.  Complementary coffee and hot chocolate will be available for those taking part in the demo.  Tents will be set up at a location designated by Red Mountain.

6pm - 9pm: A group ride will be organized and take part in the Rossland Winter Carnival Parade.  Local bike shops will be encouraged to join in along with anyone else with a fat bike in the community. Following the parade, the group will head off for a quick ride around Rossland and finish up at one of local brew pubs where people can see the bikes close up.  Helmets and lights are mandatory.

Day Two (January 30) 11am - 2pm:

Revolution Cycles will be promoting and organizing “FatDuro” on or near Red Mountain.

Day Three (January 31st) 10am – 1pm:

Gericks Sports Trail will be promoting and organizing a cross country race on or near Redstone Golf Club.

Exposure of the event will come through Red Mountain, Rossland Tourism, Oak Bay Bicycles the other bike shops in the community and social media. A press release will be circulated to local media with the event details. We will also reach out to http://fat-bike.com/ to get the event listed on their website.
