Wallpaper Wednesday – Paging Dr. Healy

The view from the beaver pond is of Mt. Hope and to the left, Hope Pass.

This week’s Wallpaper Wednesday features photos from our long-time amigo, James Healy. His photo is from a ride that he and his pooch, Hazel did on the Colorado / Continental Divide Trail along the shores of Twin Lakes, CO just south of Leadville near Independence Pass. This is some of what James had to say about his shot.

It’s a fun ride, up and down, up and down with great views of the lakes (glass this morning) and Mt. Elbert, the highest peak in the Rockies. I rode along the beach some but stuck mostly to the sweet singletrack. Along the way, you pass Dexter Cabin and the old Inter-Laken Hotel. riding the CO / CDT from Twin Lakes up below Elbert, then traversing below the peak headed north to Halfmoon Creek, then back the way we came, one of my favorites. Back when Leadville was rich, the wealthy folks would take a stage coach from the ‘Ville to Twin Lakes, board a paddle boat and cross over to the Hotel for fine dining and mountain views. Dexter Cabin held high stakes poker games and the like.
